Byzantine Hagiography
It is the art of depicting holy and religious subjects, aiming the bridging of the physical, with the spiritual world.
Byzantine hagiography, is the natural evolution of the Fayum portraits (Ancient Egyptian Portraits).
My paintings are 100% handmade, on wood, or any other surface, upon your request, and in all sizes.
The surface is specially prepared, and aging techniques are followed. Traditional hagiography powders colors are used, diluted with the traditional mixture of egg yolk and vinegar. At the end, it is coated with a special varnish, where it gives it an eternal lifetime during the time.
